Door opening sensor in burglar alarm

One of the most common burglar alarm sensors is the door and window opening sensor. The window and door opening sensor consists of two parts: a sensor and a magnet. The sensor is based on a reed switch — a device in which the contacts are normally closed or open. Under the action of a magnetic field, the contacts open or close. The detector is mounted on the window frame, the door jamb, and the magnet is mounted on the sash. In a state of calm, the sensor and the magnet are located side by side — the sensor is in a magnetic field. When the door is opened, the magnet moves away from the sensor, the strength of the magnetic field becomes smaller, the contact in the sensor closes or opens, and the detector activates the alarm. When the door or window closes, the magnet begins to act on the sensor, and it works again. The distance between the magnet and the sensor housing is approximately 1.5 cm. This allows the detector to detect even a small opening of a window or door. Thanks to this principle of operation, the device is protected from false alarms caused by drafts, etc.

Application of the opening sensor

The opening sensor is used in several areas:
  1. Burglary protection
The device helps to determine the penetration into the premises under protection. In some security systems, after the sensor is triggered, the siren is activated. Some alarms send an alarm message to the owner of the premises in the form of SMS messages or calls.
  1. Caring for children and older people
By installing an opening sensor, you can control when a person left a room or building and when he entered. If you install a detector on the refrigerator, you can control whether a person has eaten or not.

DoorProtect Plus Fibra — wired opening, tilt and shock sensor

DoorProtect Plus Fibra is a wired tire detector with two reed switches. The detector is equipped with an accelerometer for detecting opening, impact and tilt changes. Is established in rooms on windows, doors, show-windows. The DoorProtect Plus Fibra opening sensor works as part of the Ajax security system and transmits information to the security system central via the secure Fibra protocol. The wired communication range is up to 2 kilometers when connected via a U/UTP cat.5 twisted-pair cable. DoorProtect Plus Fibra is compatible with the Hub Hybrid control panel, connection to other control panels other than ocBridge Plus and uartBridge integration modules, signal repeaters is not possible.

The principle of operation of the wired sensor for opening, tilt and shock from Ajax

The wired opening sensor from Ajax DoorProtect Plus Fibra reacts to three types of alarms: change in the angle of inclination, opening and impact. When the DoorProtect Plus Fibra opening sensor is triggered, it transmits an alarm signal to the alarm control panel in 0.15 seconds. If alarms are used in the security system, the control panel activates them and simultaneously reports the alarm to the user and the security company. The owner of the protected object will know the exact location of the opening sensor. The alarm message contains the name of the device, the protected object, and the sensor's virtual room.

Opening detection by a wired DoorProtect Plus Fibra sensor

The DoorProtect Plus Fibra detector detects the opening of a window or door using a sensitive element — a reed switch (sealed contact). The device consists of two parts — a sensor and a magnet. The sensor is fixed on the fixed part of the window or door (on the frame), and the magnet is fixed on the sliding part or the movable sash. When the magnet approaches the sensor, a magnetic field arises, the sensor contacts are magnetized, attracted and closed. When a window or door is opened, the magnet moves away from the reed switch, the circuit opens and the detector registers the opening.

Shock detection by DoorProtect Plus Fibra sensor

The wired DoorProtect Plus Fibra sensor is equipped with an accelerometer that allows you to react to a burglary attempt, determine vibration and shock. The device will send an alarm if you try to break a window, kick a door or drill through the door lock of the front door.

Tilt change detection

With DoorProtect Plus Fibra, you can arm the system when the windows are in the ventilation mode (you must first disable the magnetic sensor in the settings). The inclination sensor in the sensor detects the deviation of the device in the vertical plane by more than 5°. In order for the opening sensor to detect a change in the position of a window or door, you need to install it on a movable sash.

How the DoorProtect Plus Fibra sensor transmits information to the central panel (hub)

The wired DoorProtect Plus Fibra opening, shock and tilt sensor is connected to the control panel by a bus method and uses Fibra technology — a wired data transfer protocol. Fibra supports floating-key block encryption and device authentication on a per-session basis. This method helps prevent device forgery and sabotage. The alarm central regularly checks the sensor's operability, the polling frequency can be adjusted (from 12 to 300 seconds).

Where to install the wired door sensor DoorProtect Plus Fibra

When choosing the installation location for the DoorProtect Plus Fibra wired sensor, it is necessary to take into account the opening detection zone, the Fibra signal level, the length of the cable for connection and placement recommendations when developing the project of the facility security system. To install a wired opening, tilt and shock sensor, you need to use the services of a security or installation company. Ajax accredited partners know the vulnerable and optimal places for installing a sensor.
DoorProtect Plus Fibra wired opening, tilt and impact sensor is a device of the Fibra device line. Only accredited Ajax partners can install, sell and administer these devices.
