Takeover Module Jeweller: meet the Ajax integration module for wireless devices

Takeover Module Jeweller: meet the Ajax integration module for wireless devices

Security devices are built to last for decades. Thus, it may be reasonable to stick with a setup from the 1990s that still works reliably. However, outdated features and user experience do not have to be a part of it.

This is where Takeover Module Jeweller comes into play. It breathes new life into legacy wireless setups by integrating third-party devices into the Ajax ecosystem. The trusted workhorse stays in place, while users gain access to app-based system management, automation, and advanced security solutions — all without the cost of a full system replacement.

A shortcut to smarter security

Many businesses and homes still rely on wireless security systems that, while functional, feel stuck in the past. These setups lack modern features, offer no apps for monitoring or management, and leave little room for expansion beyond basic intrusion detection. They may feel limiting, yet replacing them can involve significant installation costs and hours, if not days.

Takeover Module Jeweller bridges the gap between a habit and modern security solutions. By integrating third-party devices into the Ajax ecosystem, it creates a unified setup that can be managed using on-site keypads, buttons, or key fobs — but also via user-friendly Ajax apps. With automation scenarios, the connected equipment can interact with other third-party or Ajax devices, triggering an instant response. All these capabilities become part of the existing setup with just an Ajax hub and the module — no overhaul needed.

Once integrated with Ajax, a third-party setup can be easily expanded with native Ajax solutions. The ecosystem covers intrusion protection, video surveillance, fire and life safety, comfort and automation, as well as integration with Yale smart locks, helping protect residential and commercial facilities of any scale.

Wide compatibility for one-stop migration

One integration module supports up to 80 third-party devices across three frequencies and four protocols. This allows a complete setup to be migrated to Ajax with a single addition, even in a large private house or a multi-story office building.

Takeover Module Jeweller supports a defined list of compatible intrusion protection and fire safety devices, including motion, opening, shock, tilt, and glass break detectors, key fobs, fire detectors, and more. Smart home systems are not supported. To date, 71 third-party devices have been tested and approved, and the list will continue to expand.

Informative monitoring with Ajax apps

When integrated into the Ajax ecosystem, third-party devices become as informative as native Ajax solutions. They send event and alarm notifications with all the details needed for a fast and precise response, including the device name, alarm type, as well as the incident time and location. Events from third-party devices can also trigger alarm verification, prompting motion detectors with built-in cameras or security cameras to provide visual proof of the incident.

Beyond detection events, Ajax apps provide real-time information about the state of Takeover Module Jeweller and all connected devices. Users and security professionals can monitor connection status, battery level, operating mode, and faults. If maintenance is required, the system notifies users in advance.

Bridging communication between third-party systems and Ajax

Connected devices communicate with Takeover Module Jeweller via one of four supported third-party protocols across three frequencies. This communication is one-way, and its range and reliability depend on the technologies implemented by the developers of the respective protocols.

Within the Ajax ecosystem, Takeover Module Jeweller communicates using proprietary Ajax radio technologies: Jeweller and Wings. Jeweller is responsible for transmitting alarms and events, while Wings handles over-the-air firmware updates for the module. With a range of up to 6,550 ft in open space, these protocols ensure stable, encrypted communication even at large sites with physical obstacles or radio interference.

All-around protection against sabotage and outages

The Ajax system supports sabotage events detected by third-party devices and instantly notifies users and monitoring stations. It also detects connected devices going offline, with a configurable detection time from 4 to 24 hours in Ajax apps.

Takeover Module Jeweller itself is protected at both the hardware and software levels. Its enclosure features a tamper button that detects attempts to open the device or detach it from the surface. A built-in rechargeable backup battery keeps the module operating for up to 24 hours in case of a power loss from the main 12 V⎓ supply. Like all Ajax wireless devices, it is protected against spoofing, and the system promptly1 notifies users and the monitoring station if the connection is lost.

Hassle-free installation and setup

With no additional communication modules, power supplies, or enclosure disassembly required, installation takes just minutes.

Adding the module and third-party devices to the Ajax ecosystem is just as simple. To add Takeover Module Jeweller, the installer scans the device's QR code and configures the initial settings. Third-party devices can be added by entering their ID manually and then triggering the device once. Alternatively, a device can be added through automatic search and alarm triggering, without manual ID input.

Ongoing system maintenance can be performed remotely, reducing the need and cost of on-site visits. Most troubleshooting and reconfiguration tasks are handled directly in Ajax apps. Over-the-air updates ensure new features are delivered to the module from the comfort of the installer's office.

Protecting what matters the Ajax way

Takeover Module Jeweller offers a simple way to bring legacy security and fire safety solutions into the Ajax ecosystem. With easy deployment and effortless integration of large-scale setups, it delivers Ajax features and user experience without the need to replace each device individually. It's more than just an upgrade — it's a gateway to the full Ajax portfolio and new ways to protect what matters most.
