Advanced video archive encryption for high-risk projects

At Ajax, strengthening data protection is a continuous process. As part of this effort, the company introduces advanced encryption for locally stored video archives. The feature enables Ajax video surveillance systems to meet the EN 62676-1-1 (Grade 4) encryption requirements and makes them suitable for high-risk projects.

What’s new

Video archives stored locally on NVR hard drives and on camera microSD cards can get an extra layer of protection. They now support two encryption modes: Basic for standard installations and Advanced for high-risk facilities. With the advanced encryption enabled, Ajax video surveillance systems meet the EN 62676-1-1 (Grade 4) or comparable encryption requirements, extending their use to projects in need of the high protection level.

How to enable the feature

Video archive encryption mode can be selected in Ajax apps. A space admin or a user with system configuration rights can change the mode in a few steps:

• Go to Device settings.
• Tap Archive → Data encryption.
• Select Advanced encryption.
• Tap Save.

Switching between modes does not apply the existing archive or interrupt recording. The setting applies to new recordings only, while the existing recordings retain the encryption selected when they were created. All encryption mode changes are logged in Ajax apps.

Feature availability

To access the new feature, make sure devices run the following or later firmware versions:

• Wired cameras: 2.995 or later. 
• NVRs: 2.779 or later.

Also, update Ajax apps to the following or later versions:

• Ajax Security System 3.58 (iOS/Android).
• Ajax PRO: Tool for Engineers 2.58 (iOS/Android).
• Ajax Desktop 5.58 (Windows/macOS).
• Ajax PRO Desktop 5.58 (Windows/macOS).
