Introducing Type4 Line: fully wireless fire alarm equipment of the IoT era

Introducing Type4 Line: fully wireless fire alarm equipment of the IoT era

In Type 4 public buildings across France — such as small offices, retail stores, cafes and restaurants, clinics, and educational institutions — fire alarm systems must meet strict standards while being easy to install and operate. Building on its experience in intrusion protection and fire safety, Ajax Systems has developed a solution tailored specifically to the requirements of the French market. Meet Type4 Line — a fully wireless fire alarm equipment designed for public buildings (ERP) of Type 4.

Type4 Line

France is one of the key markets for Ajax Systems, and we continue to develop solutions tailored to its needs. After receiving the NFA2P certification for our intrusion devices in 2024, we are now offering not just compliance but a complete fire safety lineup for Type 4 facilities.

For too long, the market has accepted solutions that were merely compliant, often outdated, and hard to use. The Ajax team sees compliance as a starting point, not a limit. We believe that compliance must not compromise efficiency or ease of use. With Type4 Line, we bring fire safety for Type 4 sites into the IoT era we live in.

Two central unit models for any setup

Type4 Line offers two central units to meet different project needs: a cost-effective solution for essential fire alarm tasks, and a touchscreen version with an interface to interact with the system on-site. Both central units are easy to install, simple to use, and don't require much upkeep. Built-in communicators and a fully wireless device connection allow the system to be quickly deployed and connected via Ajax apps.

Fail-safe manual alarm activation

Type4 ManualCallPoint Jeweller provides a simple way to raise a fire alarm. A single button press instantly activates sounders and visual alarm devices (VADs), helping initiate a fast response and evacuation when every second counts. The button withstands over 500 presses thanks to a reliable mechanism made from a minimal number of solid parts, reducing the risk of mechanical failure.

Life-saving clarity with sounders and VADs

Type4 sounders and VADs activate with a record speed of under three seconds after an alarm. Each device supports either sound-only, visual-only, or combined alert options, enabling tailored warning strategies across different facility areas. Each product is equally suited for wall or ceiling mounting.

Sounders produce a 100 dB audible signal with characteristics similar to those defined in the NF S32-001 standard (non-certified). VADs use a perimeter-mounted LED frame to produce high-intensity red flashes that are easily visible even in challenging lighting conditions.

Range extenders tailored to each central unit

Just as with central units, Type4 Line includes two range extender models:

Both models extend the range of a wireless network and provide a stable connection for system devices across large or complex facilities. The range extender connects to the central unit wirelessly or via Ethernet2, ensuring reliable communication through steel and concrete. Up to five range extenders can operate within one Ajax system, and each supports any combination of Type4 Line devices.

Power supply accessories for stable performance in a blackout

Central units and range extenders connect to a 240 V~ mains supply. Devices must also have a backup battery to provide uninterrupted operation during prolonged power outages. To ensure this, Type4 Hub (4G) Jeweller and Type4 ReX Jeweller have a built-in backup battery providing up to 20 hours of autonomous operation.

For Type4 Fire Hub Jeweller and Type4 Fire ReX Jeweller, the product line includes Type4 Internal Battery with a capacity of 5 or 10 Ah for 24 or 72 hours of autonomous operation, depending on the battery1 model. These lithium-ion batteries are hot-swappable, meaning there's no need to shut down the system during replacement.

Smart integration of third-party devices with an I/O module

Type4 I/O Module (2X2) Jeweller blurs the limits for use cases and compatibility in Type 4 setups. The integration module automates emergency responses by connecting third-party sounders through the module outputs. The inputs allow adding manual call points and other alerting devices to trigger the system at the first sign of danger. Up to 64 automation scenarios3 can automate every safety measure, and the central unit will activate them even if it's temporarily offline.

Scalability and simplicity you'll love

Each Type4 Line device can be installed in minutes. No enclosure disassembly is required, while adding a device to the system takes a mere QR code scan. Device configuration is done via a mobile or desktop Ajax app. There's no need to program complex logic manually — configure the system using human-readable text through an intuitive, self-explanatory interface.

Scalability and simplicity you'll love

Battery-powered devices are built for long-term autonomy, operating on pre-installed batteries.

Each system device provides early low-battery warnings and automatic self-checks, sending state reports to the central unit and Ajax apps. An installer can also get a maintenance report remotely through Ajax PRO Desktop to obtain full information about system health before visiting the site.

For sounders and VADs, battery swap can be done without tools and enclosure disassembly. Batteries are accessible right under the SmartBracket mounting panel. Simply remove the device from the mount, open the battery covers, replace the batteries, and put everything back in place. SmartBracket has a 90-degree rotation angle, so there is no worry about misalignment: the device can be rotated until it's perfect.

Control and configuration powered by apps

Type4 Line is an app-powered solution that brings security and fire safety together. The fire safety system operates in its own dedicated space in the Ajax app, while intrusion protection, video surveillance, and automation remain separate, but managed in the same app. This approach ensures a unified management experience and simplifies control of multiple systems across one site.

That's that: no more complex commissioning, archaic configuration, and time-consuming maintenance.
