The Wash House Launderette
Partner: Great White Security
The Wash House Launderette is a self-service laundry in Perth, Western Australia. With customer-operated washers and dryers throughout the facility, the shop remains unstaffed for most of the trading day.
Challenge
Delivering an affordable, integrated security, fire safety, and automation solution for a self-service launderette
The owner of The Wash House Launderette was looking for a modern alternative to legacy systems used at his other locations, which were complicated to install and expensive to modify. He needed a cost-effective, all-in-one ecosystem that could be deployed without tearing the shop apart to run cables.
Beyond reliable intrusion protection and fire safety, smart automation was the top priority. He wanted a system that could manage the doors and lighting on schedule and allow power-cycling the machines remotely, with no need to drive to the shop.
Solution
Centralized app control and automated scenarios with wireless deployment
Great White Security provided a comprehensive Ajax solution that addressed all of the owner's automation and safety requirements. To secure the premises, the system combines Ajax opening and motion detectors that identify intrusion attempts. Smoke and heat detectors monitor the space for early signs of fire. If a threat is detected, an Ajax siren instantly sounds a loud alarm to alert anyone on site.
With 17 Relay Jeweller units installed, automation scenarios allow the launderette to essentially run itself throughout the trading day. In the morning, the door unlocks on schedule, and the holder keeps it open. At night, the holder releases, the door locks, and the interior lights switch off, while the exterior security lights come on.
The same relays put the machines under app control. If a washer, dryer, or card reader freezes, the owner can simply reboot it directly from an Ajax app, saving a trip to the launderette. When the shop locks at night, the machines automatically shut down, eliminating standby power draw until reopening.
The entire ecosystem is wireless and managed remotely via a single app, delivering instant alerts and full operational visibility.
Everything's on my phone. I can see that the shop opened on time, confirm it's locked at night, and I get an instant alert if anything triggers after hours. This ended up being the most affordable system to install across all my laundrettes, and it's the one that does the most.
