LifeQuality Lite Jeweller user manual

Updated

LifeQuality Lite Jeweller user manual

LifeQuality Lite Jeweller is a wireless temperature and humidity monitor. If a threshold is exceeded, it informs users via LED indication and push notifications in Ajax apps. Also, the device can trigger automation scenarios to activate humidifiers, HVAC systems, or other equipment to restore the required conditions.

LifeQuality Lite Jeweller communicates with the hub via two secure protocols. The device uses Jeweller to transmit measurements and Wings to transmit data backups. The communication range in open space is up to 5,550 ft.

Functional elements

Functional elements
  1. LED indicator with a touch button.
  2. SmartBracket mounting panel. To remove the panel, turn it counterclockwise.
  3. Power button.
  4. Device QR code and ID (serial number). It is used to add the device to the hub.

Operating principle

 Operating principle

LifeQuality Lite Jeweller monitors temperature and humidity by measuring them once per minute.

The measurements are available in Ajax apps in the Devices HubFilled-M tab. A PRO user or a user with system configuration rights can set up comfort thresholds for temperature and humidity. When the readings are outside the defined thresholds, users immediately receive a notification.

Ajax automation devices respond to changes in LifeQuality Lite Jeweller readings and perform user-defined actions using automation scenarios. For example, WallSwitch Jeweller turns on the heating system when the specified minimum temperature is reached. By using LifeQuality Lite Jeweller with Ajax automation devices, HVAC systems, humidifiers, and air conditioners, it’s easy to maintain a comfortable indoor climate.

Temperature and humidity sensors

Temperature and humidity are measured with a built-in SHT40 digital sensor manufactured by Sensirion (Switzerland). The sensor is installed in an isolated section of the main board. This eliminates the influence of other board components and ensures measurement accuracy. Temperature measurement accuracy depends on operating conditions and ranges from ±0.36 °F to ±0.90 °F, while humidity measurement accuracy is ±1.8%.

LifeQuality Lite Jeweller provides more accurate temperature readings than other Ajax devices. Therefore, if the system includes LifeQuality Lite Jeweller, the Rooms RoomsFilled-M tab in Ajax apps displays only the temperature measured by LifeQuality Lite Jeweller. Temperature measurements from other devices are ignored. When indoor climate is measured, data from all LifeQuality Lite Jeweller devices in the room is taken into account.

Data storage

Data storage

LifeQuality Lite Jeweller measures temperature and humidity once per minute. In Ajax apps, users can view the monitor’s current readings and historical data in charts. The charts show the trend of the selected air quality parameter over the last hour, day, week, month, or year. Ajax systems store this data on the Ajax Cloud server for up to two years.

LifeQuality Lite Jeweller also has a backup memory that allows the device to store measurements for up to 72 hours if connection with the hub or radio signal range extender is lost. As soon as the connection is restored, all readings are sent to Ajax apps and synchronized with the charts.

How to view charts

Jeweller and Wings data transfer protocols

Jeweller and Wings are wireless data transfer protocols that provide fast and reliable two-way communication between the hub and devices. LifeQuality Lite Jeweller uses Jeweller to transmit events and measured values, and Wings to send data backups from the device to the hub when the connection is restored.

Sending events to a monitoring station

An Ajax system can transmit alarms to the Ajax PRO Desktop monitoring app and a monitoring station in formats of SurGard (Contact ID), SIA (DC-09), ADEMCO 685, and other protocols.

LifeQuality Lite Jeweller can transmit the following events:

  • The monitor is moved.
  • Temperature is outside acceptable limits / has returned to acceptable limits.
  • Humidity is outside acceptable limits / has returned to acceptable limits.
  • Hub connection loss/restoration.
  • Permanent device deactivation/activation.
  • One-time device deactivation/activation.

When an alarm is received, a monitoring station operator knows what happened and precisely where to dispatch a rapid response unit. The addressability of Ajax devices allows sending events to Ajax PRO Desktop or monitoring software. The events include the device type and name, security group, and virtual room. Note that the list of transmitted parameters may vary depending on the type of monitoring station and the selected communication protocol.

Adding to the system

Before adding the device

  • Install the Ajax app.

  • Log in to your account or create a new one.

  • Select a space or create a new one.

    What a space is

    How to create a space

Functionality testing

The Ajax system offers several types of tests to help choose the correct installation place for the devices. Testing does not start immediately. However, the waiting time does not exceed the duration of one hub–device polling interval. The polling interval can be checked and configured in hub settings (Hub → Settings Settings-M → Jeweller or Jeweller/Fibra).

To run the test in the Ajax app:

  1. Select a space.

  2. Go to the Devices HubFilled-M tab.

  3. Select LifeQuality Lite Jeweller from the list.

  4. Go to Settings Settings-M.

  5. Select a test:

    1. Jeweller signal strength test.

    2. Wings signal strength test.

  6. Run the test.

Device placement

Device placement

LifeQuality Lite Jeweller can be mounted on a vertical surface using an included installation kit. The device can also be placed on a horizontal surface without mounting. We recommend mounting the device on a vertical surface or on a ceiling. It will prevent the device from being displaced or accidentally dropped.

When choosing the location of the device, consider the parameters that affect its operation:

  • Jeweller signal strength. Radio communication may not be available in industrial refrigeration chambers with shielded panels. It is recommended to perform the signal strength test at the installation site.
  • Wings signal strength.
  • Distance between the device and the hub.
  • Presence of barriers for radio signal passage between devices: walls, interfloor ceilings, and large objects located in the premises.

Consider the placement recommendations when designing your Ajax system for the object. The security system must be designed and installed by specialists. The list of recommended Ajax partners is available here.

Signal strength

The signal strength is determined by the number of undelivered or corrupted data packages over a certain period of time. The SignalStrength-M icon in the Devices HubFilled-M tab in Ajax apps indicates the signal strength:

  • three bars — excellent signal strength;

  • two bars — good signal strength;

  • one bar — low signal strength, stable operation is not guaranteed;

  • crossed out icon — no signal.

Where not to install the device

  • Outdoors. This could damage the device.
  • In places with fast air circulation. For example, near fans, open windows, or doors. This may result in inaccurate measurements.
  • Opposite any objects with rapidly changing temperatures. For example, near electric and gas heaters. This may result in inaccurate temperature measurements.
  • In places where the device has a low or unstable signal strength. This can lead to a connection loss between the device and the hub or radio signal range extender.
  • Inside premises with temperature and humidity outside the device’s operation limits. This could damage the device.
  • In enclosed botanical gardens, greenhouses, and rooms with a large number of plants. The device is not suitable for use in such conditions.

Installation

To install the device:

  1. Remove the SmartBracket mounting panel from the device. To remove the panel, turn it counterclockwise.

  2. Fix the SmartBracket panel to a vertical surface using double-sided adhesive tape or another temporary fastener. The mounting panel has an UP sign, which indicates the correct position of the panel.

  3. Run the Jeweller signal strength test and Wings signal strength test. The recommended signal strength is two or three bars. With a signal strength of one or zero bars, we do not guarantee the device will operate stably. Consider relocating the device, as repositioning even by 8″ can significantly improve the signal strength. If the signal remains poor or unstable after relocation, consider using a radio signal range extender.

  4. Remove the device from the mounting panel.

  5. Fasten the SmartBracket panel using the bundled screws at all fixation points. If using other fasteners, ensure they do not damage or deform the mounting panel.

  6. Place the device on the SmartBracket mounting panel.

Maintenance

Regularly check the device operation. The optimal frequency of checks is once every three months. Clean the device enclosure of dust, cobwebs, and other contaminants as they emerge. Use soft, dry wipes suitable for equipment maintenance.

Do not use substances that contain alcohol, acetone, gasoline, or other active solvents to clean the device.

The pre-installed batteries provide up to 5 years of autonomous operation at room temperature and up to 2.5 years at sub-zero temperatures. When the battery is low, the system sends a corresponding notification to users in Ajax apps.
