The Air Alert app marks its fourth anniversary. The project was created in the first days of the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine in response to the need for a timely air raid alert tool. Developed by Ajax Systems and Stfalcon, and supported by Ukraine's Ministry of Digital Transformation, the app delivers real-time alerts for six types of threats.
With 46 million downloads and more than 6.7 million daily active users, the app remains a critical safety tool in Ukraine. Today, Air Alert has transformed into a platform that saves lives and helps drive fundraising and social initiatives.
The app is integrated with the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Program “How Are You?”, initiated by the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, offering users at-your-fingertips psychological support. Along with push notifications about the end of an air raid, users can receive exercises and tips to help stabilize their emotional state.
Among the latest features is the Moment of Silence — a daily alert and push notification inviting users to join Ukraine's nationwide commemoration at 9:00 a.m. It is meant to honor military personnel, volunteers, and civilians who lost their lives as a result of russia's war of aggression against Ukraine.
Thanks to the Air Alert app integration, alarms are transmitted directly to Ajax security systems via API. This allows air raid alerts to be activated via physical Ajax sirens, ensuring the notification is heard wherever the Ajax security system is installed. This integration has also enabled automatic door opening during air raid alerts at over 400 shelters.
The project's importance is confirmed by the international community. The app has received several global awards: the European Excellence Awards for outstanding communication and social initiatives in Europe, the British Security & Fire Excellence Awards, and an award from the Ukrainian tech community DOU in the “Best Socially Responsible IT Initiative” category.
