New Ajax feature turns video surveillance into a deterrence tool

New Ajax feature turns video surveillance into a deterrence tool

Is it possible to turn video surveillance into a real-time deterrent? Ajax Systems introduces a new feature that enables both Ajax video devices and third-party cameras1 to activate sirens automatically upon detecting specific events. Let's explore how this addition enhances the security system's functionality.

How the new feature works

When a video device detects motion or an AI-recognized object, the system can now automatically activate sirens added to the hub to sound an alert.

Users can enable the feature individually for each video device and configure which specific events will activate sirens per camera. This ensures precise control over event responses and allows security workflows to be tailored to specific needs and environments.

Siren activation depends on the detection capabilities of each device. In case of Ajax video devices, sirens can be triggered when objects or motion2 are detected. For third-party cameras connected via Ajax NVR, sirens activate only for motion detection events.

Siren behavior can be configured according to security needs, with two options available: sirens sound only when the system is armed, or they respond to security events regardless of the system status.

Additionally, each siren has its own alarm duration, which is configured individually in its settings.

An effective solution for any task

The Activate sirens upon detection feature offers significant security advantages across various environments. Whether it's a private home, retail space, industrial facility, construction site, or vacant property, the feature enhances the overall security setup.

Ajax video devices and third-party cameras can detect unauthorized presence in restricted areas, after-hours movement in stores, activity at unattended properties, or suspicious behavior near entry points — all of which can trigger an immediate audible siren response. This helps deter theft, vandalism, or unauthorized access without requiring constant human monitoring.

Enhanced intrusion protection

The new feature delivers several significant advantages for Ajax system users:

  • Turns standard surveillance into a proactive tool that deters intruders instantly, eliminating delay between detection and response.
  • Strengthens overall security by integrating video surveillance with intrusion protection. This enables video devices to activate sirens, thus enhancing system resilience and effectiveness without additional hardware.
  • Upgrades existing systems cost-effectively. For properties with third-party cameras, adding an Ajax hub, NVR, and sirens transforms a basic surveillance setup into a comprehensive security solution.

Technical requirements and implementation

To use the new feature, an Ajax hub, a video device, and at least one siren must be connected to the same space. The feature is available in the following or later Ajax apps:

When connected to the system via Ajax NVR.

PIR-based motion detection is only supported by DoorBell and IndoorCam. Frame-based motion detection (via analysis of the camera’s field of view) is supported by all Ajax video devices.
