Ajax continues to expand the EN54 Line with features that give professionals more control and streamline operations in critical situations. The latest release introduces several new updates at once — let's look at them in detail.
Zone Test is a special mode that allows installers to check the performance of fire detectors1 in selected zones. During the test, installers can define which outputs, such as sounders, visual alarm devices (VADs), or I/O module relays, will be activated in each zone. When a fire detector is triggered, the selected outputs will activate for 4, 6, 10, or 16 seconds, depending on the preset configuration. The system does not send notifications to the monitoring station — instead, the CIE displays a test alarm on the screen. The installer can test detectors in a single zone or choose multiple zones. This feature makes routine inspections safer and more efficient, ensuring that the reliability of detectors and outputs can be checked without disrupting the entire system.

Acknowledgement delay postpones alarm activation for a set time: during this time, no event is sent to the monitoring station, and neither sounders, VADs, nor other outputs are triggered. The delay gives the fire officer on site the chance to confirm awareness of a potential danger. Once acknowledged, the Investigation delay begins, providing additional time to inspect the source of the alarm and verify whether the threat is real. If it's confirmed, a fire officer can manually activate an alarm via a manual call point, or override delay buttons via Ajax apps or directly from the CIE. The alarm will also activate automatically if the delay period expires without confirmation. The Investigation delay can only start after the Acknowledgement delay. The combined duration of both delays cannot exceed ten minutes.

Both zone test and delay features are available starting with OS Malevich 2.35.
Additionally, Scenarios by alarm are now supported, enabling automated responses once a detector is triggered. One of these scenarios is visual alarm verification: photos from MotionCam detectors are sent to the monitoring station, allowing operators to confirm the event before dispatching emergency services. This feature is also available with OS Malevich 2.35 and later, and in the following app versions:
- Ajax Security System: 3.36 and later for Android and iOS
- Ajax PRO: Tool for Engineers: 3.36 and later for Android and iOS
- Ajax Desktop: 5.36 and later for macOS and Windows
- Ajax PRO Desktop: 5.36 and later for macOS and Windows
When in test mode, smoke detectors respond to test aerosols, such as Solo 332.
