The American Institute of Monterrey (AIM) is a private school based in Mexico, welcoming 1,200 students across the campus. To protect its students, faculty, and assets, the AIM sought reliable fire detection and intrusion protection. In addition, the school required centralized control of its extensive premises.
Challenge
Multi-building fire and intrusion protection with centralized control and event visibility
The AIM sought fire safety and intrusion protection across all campus buildings. With many staff members moving between buildings, the school also needed detailed entry and exit records to maintain control. Since classes take place daily, the solution had to be installed without interfering with the educational process. In addition, the school required a setup that could grow as its safety needs evolved, ensuring long‑term reliability and flexibility.

Solution
Ajax wireless fire and intrusion protection managed in one app
For this project, the AIM partnered with the monitoring company Join Safe to implement the Ajax security system across the campus. The solution was selected for its wireless architecture and its ability to integrate fire safety and intrusion protection into a centrally managed, scalable ecosystem.
Four Hub 2 Plus Jeweller control panels, together with ten ReX 2 Jeweller range extenders, provide full coverage and stable data exchange across extensive campus territory. Using multi‑carrier communication channels, the hubs ensure stable work even during network disruptions, maintaining reliable protection and centralized monitoring at all times.

A total of 186 DoorProtect Jeweller detectors secure doors and windows throughout the facility, immediately notifying of any attempt to enter after hours. Meanwhile, 20 StreetSiren Jeweller devices deliver audible and visual response, alerting the staff and deterring potential intruders.

For fire protection, the setup includes 261 FireProtect 2 (Smoke/Heat/CO) Jeweller detectors installed in classrooms, offices, and shared spaces. These wireless devices promptly notify of smoke, rapid temperature rise, or increased CO concentration, with false alarms close to zero. When the detector is triggered, the connected hub instantly transmits the event to the app, indicating the device and its location. This accurate detection enables staff to assess the situation and initiate an evacuation where required.

In total, 485 wireless devices were used to cover the campus. Ajax wireless architecture made installation quick and clean, with no extra drilling or structural modifications. This approach reduced installation time and avoided disruption to daily school activity. Finally, the system is easily scalable and allows integration of new devices, including automation and video surveillance.
The system is managed through Ajax PRO Desktop for installation, monitoring, and facility and staff management. This app provides centralized control of security status across all buildings and displays device information. All security events are recorded in detailed logs with date and time. Administrators can assign roles and maintain clear visibility of user actions.
As an extra control measure, authorized staff use four Ajax SpaceControl Jeweller key fobs to arm or disarm the system and send an instant alarm via the panic button. The devices provide on-site control of essential functions and complement centralized management through Ajax PRO Desktop.
In addition to centralized control, security events are forwarded to the monitoring company to ensure a professional response when needed.

Why Ajax
Fully wireless installation. The wireless architecture allows devices to be installed without cable routing or structural modifications. This approach simplifies deployment, reduces installation time, and minimizes disruption to daily operations — regardless of the facility's size.
Integrated fire and intrusion protection. Ajax enables fire and intrusion devices to function within the same ecosystem. This combination eliminates the need for parallel solutions and provides centralized control through a single app.
Ability to scale the system in the future. The Ajax ecosystem is designed to grow with evolving needs. Additional devices, automation features, and video surveillance can be integrated into the same system, making it possible to expand protection without replacing existing infrastructure.
