In the security industry, every detail matters — especially when it comes to visual alarm verification. The clearer the image, the easier it is to confirm a threat or identify an intruder. With this in mind, at the latest Ajax Special Event, the Ajax team introduced Superior MotionCam HD (PhOD) Jeweller. This indoor motion detector combines HDR technology and HD photo quality, offering excellent color balance and enhanced detail. The device uses the improved TurboWings protocol for faster data transmission, setting a new benchmark for photo verification in the industry. Superior MotionCam HD (PhOD) Jeweller is now available for order.
This is a device of the Superior product line. Only accredited Ajax Systems partners can sell, install, and administer Superior products.
Getting to know Superior MotionCam HD (PhOD) Jeweller
Superior MotionCam HD (PhOD) Jeweller is a volumetric motion detector with a detection range of up to 39 ft. Based on Superior MotionCam (PhOD) Jeweller, the device can detect object movement at speeds between 1 ft/s and 6.6 ft/s. With photo verification, users receive visual confirmations of alarms from Superior MotionCam HD (PhOD) Jeweller and any Ajax devices, such as leak or fire detectors. Ajax motion detectors support several types of photo verification: photo by alarm, photo by scenario, photo on demand, and photo by schedule. However, what makes Superior MotionCam HD (PhOD) Jeweller truly stand out is the quality of the photos it captures.
HDR technology
Superior MotionCam HD (PhOD) Jeweller is equipped with an advanced optical system, a CMOS sensor, and HDR technology. HDR, or High Dynamic Range, enhances both colors and contrast, ensuring photos appear natural without overexposure or overly dark shadows. This technology combines multiple images with varying exposures into a single photo to achieve the ideal blend of light and shadow. As a result, photos are more vibrant, detailed, and balanced, closely mimicking what the human eye perceives.

HD photos
In addition to HDR, the HD (High Definition) technology steps in to enhance image clarity and sharpness. Text, faces, and other details in photos taken by the detector become sharper and more legible. The preferred photo resolution can be selected remotely via Ajax apps for PC and smartphones. Available resolutions include:
- 960 × 720 pixels
- 640 × 480 pixels (default)
- 320 × 240 pixels
- 160 × 120 pixels

The detector automatically takes a series of photos as soon as it detects motion. These photos are then combined into an animation showing the situation as it unfolds. The following series are available:
- from 1 to 5 images with a resolution of 320 × 240 px or 160 × 120 px
- from 1 to 3 images with a resolution of 640 × 480 px or 960 × 720 px
TurboWings protocol
Some security motion detectors on the market rely on Wi-Fi to send HD images. This can be unreliable if the connection is slow or unstable — especially in areas with poor signal. Superior MotionCam HD (PhOD) Jeweller not only captures excellent detail in photos but also transmits them to the app at incredible speed. This is possible thanks to TurboWings — Ajax Systems’ enhanced data transfer protocol. With TurboWings, Superior MotionCam HD (PhOD) Jeweller delivers photos twice as fast as other Ajax motion detectors.
Wings | TurboWings |
---|---|
9 seconds to deliver the first photo at a resolution of 320 × 240 pixels | 4.5 seconds to deliver the first photo at a resolution of 320 × 240 pixels |
A photo with a resolution of 960 × 720 pixels takes 15,5 seconds to be delivered.
Privacy first
While fast photo transmission is crucial, protecting user data is equally important. The Privacy menu in Ajax apps allows users with admin rights to determine who can access photos from Superior MotionCam HD (PhOD) Jeweller. Only authorized users can request and view these images. All photos are encrypted at every stage of transmission. Once stored on Ajax Cloud, they are neither processed nor analyzed. The Ajax Cloud server is hosted across several geographically dispersed data centers, meeting the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirements.
Compliance with regulation
Superior MotionCam HD (PhOD) Jeweller is a reliable motion detection solution that holds certificates such as EN 50131 (Grade 2), PD 6662:2017, and SSF (in progress). As a result, the device can be used in a variety of facilities, including offices, schools, production sites, and warehouses.
Additional features
Communication reliability
Superior MotionCam HD (PhOD) Jeweller communicates with the hub at a distance of up to 5,550 ft. If more coverage is needed, the ReX 2 Jeweller range extender can be used to double the communication range. The motion detector employs Jeweller and TurboWings proprietary protocols to efficiently handle device status updates and transfer larger amounts of data such as photos. Jeweller manages information on device status, alarms, and sensor readings, while TurboWings transmits photos.
Stable performance in heat and cold
Designed for reliable operation in varying environments, Superior MotionCam HD (PhOD) Jeweller performs well in both extreme heat and cold. The enhanced pre-installed batteries provide up to 4 years of continuous operation when the Photo on Demand feature is disabled. With Photo on Demand enabled, the battery life lasts up to 3 years.
The detector operates within a temperature range of 14 °F to 104 °F, which makes it suitable for diverse environments, including unheated spaces. This helps to handle fluctuations in temperature without degradation in batteries’ lifespan, ensuring consistent device performance year-round.
Easy installation and setup
Superior MotionCam HD (PhOD) Jeweller offers hassle-free installation and setup. Equipped with a SmartBracket mounting panel, it can be quickly mounted on a wall without disassembling the enclosure. It is recommended to install the detector at a height of 7.9 ft.
Integrating the motion detector into the Ajax ecosystem is effortless — simply scan the QR code with an Ajax app to pair the device with the hub. Remote configuration and adjustments can also be done via Ajax apps, reducing the need for on-site visits. This user-friendly approach saves time during both the initial setup and subsequent system management.
