Estimated battery life for Hub BP Jeweller

Estimated battery life is a feature for battery-powered hubs that allows monitoring and installation companies to track the hub’s remaining operating time and replace the battery before it runs out.

System requirements

The Estimated battery life feature applies to Hub BP Jeweller and Hub BP Jeweller (without casing) running OS Malevich 2.38.118 or later.

Estimated battery life can be configured and monitored in the following or later versions of Ajax apps:

• Ajax PRO Desktop 5.52 (Windows/macOS)

The feature works only with Ajax internal batteries:

• Internal battery NB (7.2V/95Ah)
• Internal battery NB (7.2V/190Ah)
• Internal battery RB (6.4V/36Ah)
• Internal battery RB (6.4V/78Ah)

Operating principle

To estimate the remaining battery life, the system considers current operating conditions, system settings, and other factors, including:

• Hub's hardware and firmware versions

• Battery parameters and settings:

  • Battery type and capacity

  • The Battery power saver mode state — enabled or disabled

  • Server polling interval

  • Activity period

  • The Wake-up via SMS feature state — enabled or disabled

• Operating conditions:

  • Time the hub spends in full-function mode (i.e., when the hub exits the Battery power saver mode) — depends on the number of alarms or other device activations, software updates, and wake-ups on demand (via SMS or by schedule)

  • Time the hub spends in Battery power saver mode

  • Ambient temperature

The system starts estimating the remaining battery life only after the new battery is connected and the action is confirmed in the Ajax PRO Desktop app.

The estimates are valid for fully charged batteries only — new and unused non-rechargeable batteries or fully charged rechargeable batteries.

Selecting the battery capacity after its installation

To ensure an accurate remaining battery life estimate, confirm the new battery installation in the Ajax PRO Desktop app using the company account:

1. Select the required object.
2. Go to the Equipment tab.
3. Select the hub.
4. Find the Estimated battery life state and click the button.
5. Select the required internal battery capacity and click Confirm replacement.

Employees with the following company roles can confirm the battery replacement:

• Senior CMS engineer
• Engineer
• Head of installers
• Installer

Note that the app displays capacity options based on the battery type selected in the hub's Battery settings. If the battery type has changed, update the type in the battery settings and then confirm the new battery installation. Battery settings are available in Ajax PRO apps:

• Devices → Hub → Settings → Service → Battery settings

Monitoring estimated battery life

In the Objects menu of Ajax PRO Desktop, company accounts can view objects grouped into four custom categories based on the remaining battery life:

• Battery life: 1 month or less
• Battery life: 2–6 months
• Battery life: over 6 months
• Battery not replaced yet

The remaining battery life estimates are updated every 24 hours after battery installation is confirmed.
