This article describes how to control and configure Hub BP Jeweller when it operates in the Battery power saver mode.
Overview
For most Ajax hubs, Battery power saver is a dedicated feature that extends backup battery life when the main external power supply is unavailable. When the setting is enabled, the hub switches to standby mode to save battery charge. Hub BP Jeweller is different: it is designed for sites without a permanent power supply and can operate on an internal battery, an external power source, or both. For this hub, Battery power saver allows it to operate for months or even years on battery power, depending on the battery type, capacity, and system configuration.
When Battery power saver is configured for the hub, the device switches to standby mode when its Activity period ends. To save battery charge, the hub turns off its communication channel — cellular network — when it switches to standby mode. Therefore, the hub is not connected to Ajax Cloud and the monitoring station until any system event occurs.
In Ajax apps, the hub is greyed out and shown in the Saving mode state. The space in the spaces list is labeled with the additional Saving mode state. Standby mode does not affect system operation. Triggering any device activates the hub for an Activity period to transmit the event to users and the monitoring station.
The Hub BP Jeweller Battery power saver settings allow users to enable battery power-saving mode for an internal battery, an external battery, or both, as well as set the Activity period, Server polling interval, and more.
The Battery power saver settings are available in Ajax PRO apps only:

Since Hub BP Jeweller stays in standby mode most of the time and is not connected to the Ajax Cloud until a system event occurs, managing the hub has some limitations. The sections below describe how to control the hub while it operates in the Battery power saver mode.

Waking up the hub from Battery power saver mode
The hub can temporarily wake from Battery power saver under the conditions described below.
Note that the hub remains active only for the time set in the Activity period setting.
Regular server communication. The hub wakes up automatically according to the Server polling interval setting to connect to Ajax Cloud, confirm its availability, and synchronize data. This setting is configured in the hub Battery power saver settings in Ajax PRO apps.
Device event. The hub wakes up upon receiving a signal from any connected device (such as a detector, keypad, key fob, or button). This includes alarms, security mode changes, and any other event transmitted to the hub.
Scheduled wake-up. The hub can be configured to wake up automatically according to a predefined schedule to perform routine operations, such as system checks and synchronization. This feature is configured in the hub states in Ajax PRO apps.

On demand via SMS. The hub can be woken up on demand by sending an SMS with a secure code to the hub SIM card number. This feature can be configured in the hub Battery power saver settings in Ajax PRO apps. To set it up, enable the Wake-up via SMS toggle and create an SMS password. The password must contain 6–24 letters, numbers, or special characters, with no spaces.

To wake up the hub via SMS, send an SMS to the hub SIM card number with the hub ID, SMS password, and WFB text.

- 000ABC11 — hub ID, also referred to as Device ID
- 12345ab — SMS password
- WFB — required text in the SMS.
Note that the Wake-up via SMS feature is not available if Ajax SIM is used.
Updating the hub firmware
To ensure Hub BP Jeweller runs the latest firmware and receives all important updates in a timely manner, the system can download and install updates when Battery power saver is enabled. In this mode, the hub firmware can be updated in any security mode, even when the system is armed.
This functionality is available for Hub BP Jeweller running OS Malevich 2.39.119 or later.
Updating the hub firmware in the Battery power saving mode is controlled by the Firmware update in battery saving mode setting. However, it also depends on the Firmware auto-update setting. These settings are enabled by default and available in Ajax apps:

Depending on whether each setting is either enabled or disabled, the system behaves as follows:

Updating the hub firmware in battery saving mode is allowed only when the hub wakes up for regular communication with the server. The hub checks for important system updates that contain critical improvements and, if any are available, starts downloading them automatically. When the system is armed, firmware updates are installed only if there are no active alarms. The installation takes no longer than 2 minutes. If any alarms or other events occur in the system during the update, they are sent right after the installation is complete. After the update, the system security mode remains unchanged.
If the hub is woken up by a device alarm, it will not start updating its firmware to maintain a stable connection with the monitoring station.
To provide enough time to download and install the new firmware, the system uses a separate activity period of up to 35 minutes. If the firmware update is successful, the hub enters battery saving mode once the update is complete. If the hub does not update within this time for any reason, it remains on its current firmware version and enters battery saving mode. In this case, the hub firmware should be updated manually via an Ajax app.
Note that if the battery charge drops to a low level, the system restricts both automatic and manual firmware updates.
If at least one radio signal range extender is added to the hub, it is recommended to monitor the firmware update manually to ensure that the hub and all range extenders receive the update and run the same firmware version.
Configuring system settings
Currently, the system allows configuring the hub and devices added to it only during the hub Activity periods and when the system is disarmed.
To configure system settings, wake up the hub using one of the methods described in the Waking up the hub from Battery power saver mode section, disarm the system, and adjust the required settings.
