The "That Day" interactive exhibition has opened at Kyiv Central Railway Station to mark the 35th anniversary of the restoration of Ukraine's independence. The exhibits are protected by Ajax Systems.
The exhibition offers visitors an opportunity not only to learn more about the history of Ukraine's independence but also to experience the events that shaped the country. Visitors can raise the Ukrainian flag over the dome of the Verkhovna Rada; visit the parliamentary session hall and the president's office using VR glasses; see the starry sky over Kyiv as it looked on August 24, 1991; record a news broadcast in a TV or radio studio; sing their favorite songs of independence in a karaoke car; and leave their dreams in the "Cloud of Dreams."
The exhibition consists of three sections: "Choice," "What Defines Us," and "Dream." The first tells the story of the events of 1991, from the August vote for Ukraine's independence in the Verkhovna Rada to the nationwide referendum in December. The second invites visitors to reflect on the qualities that unite Ukrainians today and have done so for centuries. The third section focuses on Ukraine's future.
A separate part of the exhibition features historical artifacts, including the official symbols of power of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy's international awards, the Flag of Independence, historical flags, and symbols of power dating from the era of Kyivan Rus to the Ukrainian People's Republic (UNR). The exhibition also features works by Ukrainian artists, some of which are presented as holograms and digital reproductions.
To protect the exhibits, the organizers installed wireless Ajax devices that secure the areas where the artifacts are displayed and stored. DoorProtect Jeweller monitors the opening of boxes, display cases, and other access points to the exhibits. MotionProtect Curtain Jeweller detects movement in protected areas, while GlassProtect Jeweller detects glass breakage in structures containing exhibits.
A wireless LifeQuality Jeweller detector was also installed to monitor temperature and humidity levels. It can also control air conditioning systems to help maintain appropriate conditions in the exhibition space.
Cultural heritage is our history, which we have a responsibility to pass on to future generations. It is important that unique artifacts connected to key moments in the formation of Ukraine remain safe and secure. We are proud to contribute to this project and apply our technologies to help preserve historical treasures.
The "That Day" exhibition was created by the Ukraine WOW NGO with the support of the President of Ukraine and in partnership with the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine and JSC "Ukrainian Railways." More than 300 people worked on the project.
All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to support Ukrainian museums.
