Arming by device inactivity: a reliable backup for site security

Ajax introduces a new scenario type: the system arms itself automatically when no activity is detected at the site for a set period. Arming by device inactivity provides a crucial safety net against human error, ensuring properties are protected.

Why auto-arming matters

Ajax Systems developed this feature in response to a request from Spain, where vacant properties are a prime target for squatters. Real estate agents sometimes forget to arm the system after a viewing or purposely leave it disarmed in collusion with squatter groups. This leaves properties completely exposed.

Now, if no devices are triggered after a visit, the hub can automatically arm the system. This guarantees consistent protection regardless of human errors, helping meet insurance requirements and avoid lengthy eviction processes.

The scenario reaches far beyond vacant properties. Homes are secured when the family is away, offices automatically arm themselves after working hours, and warehouses stay guarded during downtime. Wherever a prolonged lack of activity means an area should be protected, this scenario applies.

Simple, flexible setup

Configuration takes just a few taps in an Ajax app and adapts to any site:

Set up the scenario so the hub arms the entire system or selected groups or activates Night mode.
Choose which devices to monitor for inactivity: one, several, or all.
Set the inactivity period in minutes and/or hours.
Choose the days and times when the scenario runs or use the default setting to run it around the clock.
Manage the scenario and enable or disable it with a tap in the Control tab.

The timer resets each time a selected device is triggered. When no activity is detected during the set inactivity period, the system automatically arms itself and sends users an appropriate notification.

Feature availability

The auto-arming feature requires the latest versions of Ajax apps and device firmware. Superior Hub Hybrid and Hub Jeweller do not support this feature.
