HDR photos in the revised MotionCam Jeweller and MotionCam (PhOD) Jeweller: sharper detail in challenging lighting

HDR photos in the revised MotionCam Jeweller and MotionCam (PhOD) Jeweller: sharper detail in challenging lighting

Ajax Systems introduces a major update to its renowned MotionCam Jeweller and MotionCam (PhOD) Jeweller detectors. Now equipped with HDR technology and revised hardware, they deliver sharper and clearer photos for verification of alarms and assessment of what is happening on site.

Unveiled at the Ajax Special Event: Multiverse, the revised detectors are already available to order.

Why MotionCam detectors are needed

MotionCam Jeweller and MotionCam (PhOD) Jeweller are motion detectors with a built-in camera that takes a series of photos once a PIR sensor is triggered. With visual evidence available in Ajax apps within nine seconds, users see the actual situation on site, while monitoring companies can quickly verify if the threat is real and respond accordingly. The Photo on demand feature in MotionCam (PhOD) Jeweller allows users to take photos at any time or when the system is armed.

Both detectors maintain a communication range of up to 5,550 ft with an Ajax hub or range extender and operate for up to 4 years1 on pre-installed batteries. Additionally, both MotionCam Jeweller and MotionCam (PhOD) Jeweller comply with EN 50131 (Grade 2) and PD 6662:2017 standards.

What’s new about the revised detectors

HDR technology

The revised MotionCam Jeweller and MotionCam (PhOD) Jeweller detectors support high dynamic range (HDR) imaging. This means the detectors take consecutive shots with different shutter speeds. A special algorithm combines them to produce the optimal balance of light and shadow. With the HDR image feature, users and monitoring companies can see what’s happening in much greater detail and learn more information about the situation on site. Both Ajax users and PROs can enable or disable the HDR image feature through Ajax apps.

Hardware and enclosure upgrades

The camera and motion detector lens have been repositioned on the devices.

Apart from HDR technology, MotionCam Jeweller and MotionCam (PhOD) Jeweller received hardware updates. The motion detectors — both with and without the Photo on demand feature — now have a new optical system and a CMOS sensor. These hardware components ensure that photos are sharp and free from graininess. Colors are accurate, vivid, and natural, even in challenging lighting conditions.

What will happen to the previous versions of motion detectors

Previous MotionCam Jeweller and MotionCam (PhOD) Jeweller detectors are being gradually phased out in favor of the revised versions. To help PROs and partners distinguish between the old and new devices, the revised versions come in different packaging, featuring an HDR label. Consider updating marketing materials to reflect the improvements, including HDR support and a more thoughtful, ergonomic design for clients.
