With the release of Superior SeismoProtect G3 Fibra, Ajax Systems has launched a new device group, namely seismic detectors. Although these devices are commonly called “seismic” in the industry, they are specifically designed to detect vibrations caused by human impacts, such as drilling, cutting, and explosions, rather than seismic activity.

Superior SeismoProtect G3 Fibra was presented at Ajax Special Event: Multiverse, the company’s annual online presentation of new products and services. It’s a powerful addition to the Superior product line, expanding the Ajax portfolio with another Grade 3 high-security device. The detector is already available for order.

ATMs, terminals, private and bank vaults, priceless museum exhibits, and weapons and ammunition storage facilities are always nice targets for professional burglars. Such high-risk assets need enhanced protection, particularly Grade 3 security devices. That’s where Ajax comes into play with its Superior product line.

Detection system

With a piezoelectric sensor, Superior SeismoProtect G3 Fibra responds to vibrations caused by human activity. Any attempts to drill into a metal vault or breach a bank wall will be detected immediately. When the device detects vibration, the structure-borne sound is instantly processed by the hardware and converted into a signal. The software analyzes and correlates this signal with established patterns to determine if the threat is real. The procedure helps to filter out false alarms caused by a swinging door, repair or maintenance work nearby, and trains or large vehicles passing by.

Configurable sensor sensitivity can be adapted to the conditions of a particular facility, considering the installation surface and potential sources of false alarms. The sensitivity level defines the set of markers by which false alarms are filtered. With a low sensitivity, the detector is less likely to respond to active construction in the vicinity. A high sensitivity will activate an alarm if any vibration is detected.

Additional sensors

With a built-in accelerometer, Superior SeismoProtect G3 Fibra detects shocks and tilts. It helps quickly respond if an ATM or vault is moved. Moreover, the detector can distinguish even oxy-fuel welding near the enclosure thanks to a built-in temperature sensor.

No room for sabotage

Engineered for resilience, the enclosure features two tamper buttons that instantly notify users if the device is detached from the surface or removed from the mounting panel. In addition, a holding screw at the bottom of the enclosure makes dismantling attempts even more challenging.

Physical force doesn’t go unnoticed either. A flexible PCB behind the front lid detects bending or pushing. If someone tries to cut or drill through the lid, an alarm will be activated immediately. Superior SeismoProtect G3 Fibra stays one step ahead of any attempts to damage the enclosure integrity.

And there’s more — an armored 4-core signal cable. It is designed to safeguard the hub-to-detector connection, making it more difficult to cut off wiring.

Apps notify about everything

You will always be informed of any Superior SeismoProtect G3 Fibra alarms or events through instant push notifications from Ajax apps. Each notification includes a detailed description of what happened along with the alarm type, device name, and location, giving complete clarity during emergencies. Every alarm or event is recorded in the log that stores up to 500 recent events with timestamps. Such a detailed history enables users to reconstruct incidents, identify causes, and provide complete information for insurance companies if necessary.

Testing its own state

The security system’s reliability hinges on its components staying in top condition. That’s where the self-test device comes in. It assesses the state of the piezoelectric sensor by simulating vibrations and performs automatic diagnostics once a day. The test can also be run manually anytime via the Ajax app, with results instantly logged in the event feed.

But that’s not all. All Ajax devices continuously monitor key parameters such as communication, power supply, as well as tamper and sensor states, keeping you updated on their health. Automatic state reports are sent to the hub, while the Ajax Cloud server ensures seamless communication with an Ajax app. Installers, users, and a security company are immediately notified in case of malfunctions or connection issues so that they can be fixed without delay. There’s no need to disassemble the device. Its terminals are conveniently placed outside the enclosure under the front lid, which minimizes the risk of hardware damage during setup. For perfect positioning, a built-in spirit level ensures accurate installation every time.

Need to mount on a curved metal or reinforced concrete? The included mounting plate helps to install Superior SeismoProtect G3 Fibra efficiently. Made of stainless steel, the plate serves as a signal amplifier for the piezoelectric sensor when the installation surface tends to muffle vibrations. The plate also doubles as a handy template for drilling holes, as it has pre-marked fixing points. Whether you choose to weld or use screws, the versatile design adapts to site needs, saving the time and effort for installers.
