Ajax Systems joined as a partner in creating the pilot RoboLab at Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture (KNUCA). It is the first space in a planned network of robotics laboratories at Ukrainian universities. RoboLab started operating in early 2026 and is open to students from KNUCA and other Ukrainian universities who are working on engineering projects, prototyping, and testing robotic solutions.
Building on its experience in developing educational spaces and laboratories within Ajax Next, the company designed RoboLab's layout and topology and brought them to life, adapting the university premises for learning, teamwork, and prototyping.
RoboLab features 5 engineering zones, more than 30 workstations, and over 70 units of specialized equipment. Here, participants go through the full robotic solution development cycle: from concept and training to prototype production and testing.
The space is equipped with mechatronics kits, robotic arms and robotic platforms, 3D printers, and 3D scanners. Students can use VR systems for engineering simulation and prototyping, professional software for modeling and design, and AI tools.
In the first six months of operation, more than 600 visitors used the laboratory, and about 20 partner organizations joined the initiative. Today, 17 students are working on engineering projects across 6 interdisciplinary teams. They have already built 6 prototypes and presented them at the first RoboLab Demo Day in June 2026.
RoboLab was shortlisted for the international QS Reimagine Education Awards 2026 in The Power of Partnerships category. Selected from over 2,200 global applications, RoboLab ranked among the top 25% of initiatives advancing to the next stage.
The first RoboLab was implemented by the Association of Robotics and Automated Systems on the initiative of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine. The project is co-partnered by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Ukraine-Moldova American Enterprise Fund, and the companies Ajax Systems and Deus Robotics.
For Ajax Systems, participation in RoboLab is part of its ongoing mission to foster engineering education within Ajax Next. For instance, at the Mechanical Design & Robotics Lab at KPI, educational programs are held under the mentorship of company engineers and university lecturers. Among the graduates' projects are a robotic manipulator for solving a Rubik's Cube and an automatic soldering station.
