Bronze in Zurich: how Ajax Systems supports future engineers at international physics tournaments

Bronze in Zurich: how Ajax Systems supports future engineers at international physics tournaments

With support from Ajax Systems, Ukrainian school students traveled to Zurich, Switzerland, to compete in the International Young Physicists' Tournament (IYPT), where they won third place. The company also funded the Ukrainian university team’s participation in the International Physicists' Tournament (IPT) in Stillwater, USA.

The Olympic Games of physics

IYPT and IPT are among the world's most prestigious scientific competitions. This year, the events brought together some of the brightest young physicists: 35 school teams at IYPT and 20 university teams at IPT.

These tournaments are nothing like traditional academic olympiads. There are no standard problems with predetermined answers; instead, teams tackle real-world scientific challenges. Throughout the year, participants conduct lab research, run physical experiments, and develop their own solutions. The competition culminates in intellectual debates held in English. Students not only present their projects but also critique and peer-review their opponents' research.

The Ukrainian national team's research at this year's IYPT was called Monochromator. The team presented an optical system that used a sugar solution and polarizing filters to transmit light of only a specific wavelength.

Investing in the future of Ukrainian science

Competing on a global stage gives young scientists the opportunity to establish themselves internationally and gain unique experience.

The IYPT shapes a new generation of engineers and researchers. For Ukrainian school students, participating means competing against the strongest teams in the world and representing our scientific tradition. With the support of Ajax Systems, the team could focus on what mattered most — preparation and performance.

For Ajax Systems, investing in initiatives like these means building the future of Ukrainian engineering. We want talented Ukrainian school students to be able to tackle complex challenges, gain international experience, and represent Ukraine at the world’s most prestigious competitions. This is a key focus area of our Ajax Next program.
