Challenge
Protecting multiple locations both during business hours and after closing
The fast-food chain needed an all-in-one security system to protect property and ensure staff safety across more than ten locations.
Valuable restaurant equipment had to be secured around the clock, especially during vulnerable after-hours periods. And while at work, staff required a way to report and respond quickly to a conflict in the customer area.
Although the client had prior experience with alarm systems, the setup fell short of expectations. The lack of centralized control made it difficult to manage security across multiple locations, while the need for on-site maintenance drove up operating costs and system complexity.

Multifunctional wireless security and automation system with centralized control via apps
To meet the client's security needs, Prominder opted for a wireless Ajax system. The provider recommended this solution for its simplicity that doesn't come at the cost of reliability. The wireless design preserves restaurants' aesthetics and requires no changes to building infrastructure. At the same time, the system provides stable connection between devices throughout the premises.
At the core of the system is Hub 2 Plus Jeweller, a control panel designed for seamless, multichannel connectivity. The hub can switch between Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and two 2G/3G/LTE SIM cards to stay online even if one channel fails. As a result, system alarms and events are guaranteed to reach the monitoring station, leaving virtually no chance to miss a threat.

Since Dean & Dennys restaurants span multiple floors and house lots of equipment, radio signals may struggle to pass through obstacles. To ensure stable coverage, Prominder installed the ReX 2 Jeweller range extender that doubles the hub's communication range. It enables devices from every corner of a restaurant — even behind thick walls, metal surfaces, kitchen appliances, and in crowded areas — to maintain a robust connection with the hub.
Restaurant administrators can easily control access to restricted areas, such as storage or safe rooms. Each entrance is secured with KeyPad Jeweller, a wireless keypad with touch buttons. Staff can use individual access codes or a shared keypad code to disarm and enter protected zones. All actions performed via the keypad are logged in Ajax apps.

To prevent customers from entering staff-only areas, DoorProtect Jeweller opening detectors were installed on the relevant doors. These devices use reliable reed switch technology to detect when a door is opened. If someone enters the secured room, the system immediately raises an alarm and notifies users via Ajax apps.
Protection of most indoor areas — including dining spaces, service counters, kitchens, and storage rooms — relies on motion detection with MotionProtect Jeweller. These devices combine advanced hardware and proprietary software to identify unauthorized activity when no staff presence is expected. This way, each restaurant's assets remain protected even when no one is on site.

In an environment with constant customer traffic, ensuring a safe space for all visitors was a top priority. At Dean & Dennys, employees always have Button Jeweller at hand — a compact panic button designed to raise an alarm in high-stress situations. This solution allows staff to call for help at any moment in case of an incident in the customer area.
If any of the installed devices detect a threat, StreetSiren Jeweller serves as the first line of response. Its powerful buzzer produces an ear-piercing sound of up to 113 dB to deter potential intruders. The siren is also equipped with a bright LED indicator that draws the attention of those nearby, making sure intruders are exposed and unable to continue unnoticed.

The Ajax security system interacts with other restaurant equipment through WallSwitch Jeweller. This relay controls the power supply to lighting, climate control systems, and LED TV panels. Automation scenarios act as a common language between these setups: arming and disarming the system can automatically switch connected appliances on and off, which helps to optimize overall energy consumption and streamline operations.

The entire system is managed through the Ajax app ecosystem. Authorized users can control security modes, manage automation, and receive event notifications in the Ajax Security System app for smartphones and Apple Watch. Meanwhile, Prominder, the security system provider, utilizes Ajax PRO Desktop — Ajax's dedicated monitoring software. It allows the Prominder team to configure and check devices across all monitored locations and oversee the work of each installer. These software tools provide remote system management and maintenance, offering peace of mind to end users and cost-efficient service to the security provider.
