Lightning-fast alarms. Verified.

MotionCam U (PhOD) Jeweller is a version of Ajax’s well-known motion detector, refined to meet strict UK standards. It has a built-in camera that takes photos when the detector is triggered. The device delivers clear visual evidence to Ajax apps in just 9 seconds1. Thanks to HDR technology, the photos offer enhanced detail even in difficult lighting conditions. These features ensure fast threat verification, minimising user stress and reducing false patrol dispatches. Users can request on-demand photos to check their property. Additionally, a security professional can configure the detector to take photos automatically in response to alarms from other devices in the system, by arming/disarming or according to a set schedule.

Peace of mind on demand

The detector shows the actual situation on the scene in only a few seconds, providing a clear picture to ease user anxiety in case of alarm. Users can take an on-demand photo with a single tap in an Ajax app. Additionally, the detector can automatically take pictures according to a set schedule, when the security mode is changed, or when another device in the system is triggered.

Privacy first

Detailed event log

Detailed event log

The event log stores up to 500 recent system events, providing details such as the device name, time, and event description. On-demand photos are linked to the user who made the request. Only users with the appropriate rights can receive photos on demand. Security companies do not receive these images.

Strict permission distribution

Strict permission distribution

The Privacy menu in Ajax apps allows for precise control over visual data access. Users and security company operators can define who can request photos and when, which detectors can take on-demand photos, and who is allowed to view the photos or live streams from integrated cameras.

Encryption and GDPR

Encryption and GDPR

Photos are encrypted throughout their transmission. Only system users can view the photos stored in the Ajax Cloud virtual storage. Stored photos cannot be processed or analysed. The Ajax Cloud server is hosted on geographically distributed servers that comply with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) standards.

Privacy first

The Ajax product portfolio includes motion detectors with basic photo verification capabilities. These devices can capture photos only when an alarm is raised.

HDR for challenging lighting conditions

MotionCam U (PhOD) Jeweller captures clear, balanced images using an advanced optical system, a CMOS sensor, and HDR (High Dynamic Range) technology. HDR improves colors and contrast by combining photos with different exposures into one. This prevents images from being too bright or too dark. As a result, photos look more colorful, detailed, and natural — just like we see things in real life.

HDR

HDR preserves details in both bright and dark areas. Without HDR, windows appear overexposed, and shadows are too dark.

PIR sensor

All Ajax motion detectors use PIR sensors by Excelitas Technologies, a field-leading American manufacturer specialising in designing and producing optronic components since 1931. Ajax Systems constantly proves the sensor’s Superior quality at the production stage: we test 100% of manufactured devices. This approach ensures the utmost accuracy of intrusion detection.

Sensitivity level

The detector’s sensitivity can be adjusted via Ajax apps to suit specific site conditions. PRO users can choose from three sensitivity levels to balance detection accuracy and false alarm prevention. Lower sensitivity works well in areas with potential thermal interference, such as near heating equipment or in direct sunlight. Higher sensitivity is recommended for areas requiring enhanced security, while the very high setting ensures the detection of even the slightest movement in the protected area. The optimal setting can be determined during installation via the detection zone test. The setting can be adjusted at any time when the system is disarmed if environmental conditions change or false alarms occur.

Sensitivity level

Special lens

The pattern of the Fresnel lens sections is designed to differentiate between the IR diagrams of a human, pet, and thermal noise. Large lens sections capture radiation at an adult’s head and torso level. Smaller sections make the diagram more detailed. The lens provides the detector with accurate information about the thermal object in the detection zone and the nature of its movement.

SmartDetect

We processed thousands of thermal patterns caused by people, pets, and the environment to develop the SmartDetect software algorithm. In armed mode, the detector constantly analyses the thermal diagram from the PIR sensor, including the IR radiation intensity, thermal spot size, movement speed, time spent in the detection zone, and other parameters. The algorithm identifies false alarm markers instantly and with high accuracy. As a result, the detector accurately responds to movement without false alarms.

Temperature compensation

Temperature compensation is a software mechanism that maintains the contrast of the thermal diagram even if the ambient temperature is close to the temperature of the human body. With each ambient temperature measurement, the detector corrects the PIR sensor data according to the coefficient table stored in its memory. The detector is effective over the entire operating temperature range.

Professional installation

With the correct installation at the height of 2.4 m and lens direction perpendicular to an alleged intrusion path, the detector provides an accurate thermal diagram and pet immunity. It instantly responds to a real threat, minimising false alarms caused by pets weighing up to 20 kg and below 50 cm in height.

Professional installation

Stable and reliable performance

MotionCam U (PhOD) Jeweller is equipped with high-quality batteries from proven manufacturers only. In addition to real-time testing during battery production, Ajax Systems inspects every unit to ensure the accuracy of the batteries’ characteristics. The batteries provide stable performance at temperatures from –25 °C to +60 °С.

System supervision

The device performs automatic self-diagnosis and reports its status to the hub. Essential parameters, including tamper, communication, power supply, and sensor statuses, are continuously monitored. The Ajax Cloud server controls communication between the hub and Ajax apps, ensuring instant notifications for ARCs, security companies, and users. In case of any malfunction or communication failure, an engineer is informed immediately to provide necessary services.

Tamper alarm

The detector enclosure features a tamper that activates an alarm if the device is detached from the surface or if its enclosure is opened. The system instantly notifies the security company and users. A holding screw helps to secure the device on a mounting panel.

Data encryption

Data encryption

All data the system stores and transmits is protected by block encryption featuring a dynamic key. This encryption provides protection against data theft, spoofing, and software tampering.

Data-rich notifications
