Challenge
Safeguarding a client with a serious health condition in critical moments
The client approached our partner for a reliable security and video surveillance system after losing confidence in her previous provider. As the discussion continued, it became clear that, given the client's health condition, her needs went beyond home protection alone.
The key requirement was to ensure the resident could easily call for help during a medical emergency, even if her mobility was severely limited. Automating everyday routines was also a priority, helping make daily system interactions as simple and manageable as possible.
Solution
A unified Ajax system combining security, visual verification, and hands-free emergency communication
Carebyte proposed a comprehensive Ajax system to address both the property's security needs and the resident's health-related requirements. A single system protects the home from intrusion, enables hands-free communication with the monitoring company in case of emergency, and provides visual context to help assess the situation. Additionally, it automates everyday routines to reduce effort on the part of the client.
At the core of the setup is Hub 2 (4G) Jeweller, which maintains communication between devices and connects the system to the monitoring center operated by Devision.
To secure the property, the system combines Ajax opening detectors and motion detectors inside the house, and a siren that delivers a loud alert to deter intruders if a breach occurs.
To address the client's health-related needs, DoubleButton Jeweller devices were placed in easily accessible locations: one is worn by the client as a pendant, while others are mounted in the living room, kitchen, and bedroom. Pressing any of these buttons instantly alerts the Devision control center.
When operators receive an auxiliary alarm, they can contact the resident using SpeakerPhone Jeweller voice modules installed in the kitchen/hallway and bedroom. Depending on which DoubleButton Jeweller device was activated, the control room calls the nearest voice module, or, if the resident cannot be reached, all modules at once. The call starts immediately, with no action needed from the client, enabling two-way communication.
At the same time, an auxiliary alarm gives Devision access to IndoorCam and TurretCam cameras installed throughout the property. Operators can then evaluate the situation remotely and decide on the appropriate response, such as dispatching an ambulance or sending a rapid response unit.
The client's privacy remains strictly protected across the Ajax system, with access permissions configured in the app with just a few taps. Devision gains access to camera feeds and voice modules only when an alarm is triggered.
To automate routine tasks for the client's comfort, a Tedee smart lock was integrated into the Ajax system. It automatically locks when the resident arms the system and unlocks when she disarms it. In an emergency, the Devision control room can also remotely unlock the door for medical responders.
