In most cases, new firmware versions for detectors, sirens, control devices, and automation devices are released due to changes in production processes. However, some updates add new features to comply with regional standards or enhance the Ajax system's capabilities.
This article explains:
- which functions depend on the device firmware version;
- how to find the device firmware version in Ajax apps;
- how to find the device ID;
- how to update the device firmware.
What is firmware
Firmware, or embedded software, is software and hardware settings stored in the device's non-volatile memory. Essentially, it is a program that determines how a device works.

How to update the firmware
Hubs and range extenders run on OS Malevich. Their firmware is updated automatically over the air when a new version is available on the server.
Ajax devices get their firmware at the time of manufacture. For some devices, the firmware can be updated in Ajax apps. Check the device user manual to see whether the firmware can be updated in the app and how to do so.
You can replace the device with a new one at the point of purchase or through your service company, such as an installation or security company. Check the exchange availability, device availability, and replacement conditions at the point of purchase.
We recommend purchasing devices only from authorized partners.
If you work with a service company, contact them to replace the device. They may charge an additional fee for replacing and configuring the device.
